One day during the spring of 2021, Picturise was contacted by representatives of the Ashoka non-profit organisation and invited to attend a series of very practical online workshops that were about to happen in the near future.
Ashoka, through their Create Shared Value (CSV) Prize, and supported by Nestlé, the Swiss multinational food and drink corporation, addressed an burning issue concerning environmental protection and recycling: the waste created as a result of the activities developed by the Food & Packaging industry.
The mission of Picturise was to participate and create a visual brief of the 4 LIVE online sessions where professionals from all areas would witness inspirational stories and engage into discussions about the solutions at hand.
The main idea behind these gatherings was that the different actors from the Food & Packaging system have lost of valuable lessons and good practices to share when it comes to reducing the waste created by the industry. Nestlé’s packaging sustainability plans aim to attain 100% recyclable or reusable packaging solutions, while at the same time reducing the use of virgin plastics by 33%, by 2025. Add to this the aim of having 0 packaging ending up in a landfill or litter, and there’s a big enough objective to inspire change and sustained efforts.
Through packaging reduction, reusable packaging, innovative materials, recycling management infrastructure and rethinking behaviours of the company, its partners and the consumers. By drawing inspiration from different smaller businesses, social entrepreneurs and consumers’ habits, Nestlé departed on a journey towards addressing an issue that would revolutionise the company’s impact on the environment.
